How to identify E12

  1. Look for E12 printed on the bulb or packaging.
  2. Measure straight across the metal screw base, not around it.
  3. Compare the base with a U.S. dime: E12 is noticeably narrower.

Before you buy a replacement

  • Do not confuse E12 with the slightly larger European E14 base.
  • Check whether the fixture needs a flame-tip, torpedo, or globe shape.
  • Stay at or below the fixture's maximum wattage.
